Investment Advice in Canberra

Whether you’re investing for the first time, looking to grow your existing portfolio, or seeking professional management for significant wealth, getting the right advice can make a meaningful difference to your outcome. At Panorama Wealth, we’re based in Canberra and provide investment advice to clients across Australia, from those just starting out to high-net-worth investors with complex portfolios.

New to Investing?

If you’ve never invested beyond a savings account, the number of options can feel overwhelming. You might be keen to put your money to work but cautious about making a mistake with your hard-earned savings. We help clients build their knowledge and confidence by providing education and advice on the fundamentals:

  • How superannuation works and whether you should be adding to it.
  • What shares and ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) are and how they work.
  • How much of your savings to allocate to the stock market versus keeping in cash.
  • Which high-interest savings accounts offer the best returns.
  • Whether micro-investing platforms are a good starting point for your situation.

There’s no minimum investment amount for this type of advice. If you’re starting from scratch and want a clear, jargon-free explanation of your options, we’re happy to help.

Already Investing? Get Your Portfolio Reviewed

Maybe you’ve already set up a stockbroking account and bought some ETFs or shares, but you’re not sure if your portfolio is well-structured or if you’re paying too much in fees. A professional review can identify issues you might not spot on your own. We can help with:

  • Reviewing your existing portfolio for diversification, risk, and alignment with your goals.
  • Assessing whether your regular investment contributions are at the right level and going to the right places.
  • Checking that the brokerage fees on your stockbroking account aren’t eating into your returns.

Investing With a Mortgage

If you own your home and have surplus cashflow above your mortgage repayments and living expenses, you may be wondering whether to invest that money or pay down your mortgage faster. The answer depends on your circumstances, risk tolerance, and the interest rate on your loan. We provide advice on:

  • Debt recycling - a strategy that converts non-deductible mortgage debt into tax-deductible investment debt.
  • Whether to prioritise your offset account, salary sacrifice into super or invest outside of super.
  • The different tax implications and trade-offs of investment property versus shares versus superannuation versus your offset account.

Adding to Superannuation

Superannuation is one of the most tax-effective investment vehicles in Australia, and there are a range of strategies to make the most of it. We help clients with concessional and non-concessional contributions, catch-up contributions, downsizer contributions, and more. For detailed information on superannuation strategies, see our Superannuation and Retirement Planning pages.

Portfolios are typically constructed using a combination of actively managed funds and, where appropriate, passive ETFs. The focus is on building a diversified portfolio that aligns with your goals, risk profile, and time horizon.

How We Stay Across the Markets

George typically spends over 100 hours each year deepening his knowledge of investment markets. This includes attending major industry conferences such as the PCF (Portfolio Construction Forum) Markets Summit, the PCF Strategies Summit, and the Morningstar Investment Conference, as well as reading fund reports and market updates, watching fund manager presentations, and meeting with fund managers directly. This is well in excess of the legislated minimum of 10 CPD hours per year of technical competence.

Our Interests Are Aligned With Yours

A driving force behind George’s passion for investing is the desire to perform well in his own personal investment portfolios. There is likely to be a high level of overlap, between the investments recommended in client portfolios and the ones used in his own. We don’t receive commissions on any of the investment products we recommend.
